Response: 10 handwritten logo designs

In this article they show 10 different handwritten logo designs from Disney to Ford. I picked this topic because it caught my eye, I've always enjoyed cursive / writing in general.

Having a logo that's handwritten adds a few things to the logo. Handwritten logos makes it unique, nobody will ever have a logo like a hand made logo. It gives the brand a personal touch like the article says. I enjoy originality and having a handwritten logo is very original.

Response: A Makeover for the Starbucks Mermaid

In this article they explain that over the years Starbucks logo has changed and how it will change in the coming years. I personally enjoy their old 1992 logo over the rest. I think the black and green go well together and it's recognizable.

I enjoy logos that will catch my eye and once I get the hang of a logo, I stick to that logo. I don't like change, but that just depends who you're. Some people like change, but myself I think sticking to an original logo is a better choice. When you see someone drinking a starbucks coffee in 2041 nobody will know that it stands for Starbucks. A green dot is simply a green dot and I find that boring / unrecognizable for Starbucks.

I also believe the logo should contain their brand name which is another reason why I prefer the 1992 logo.

Functional product

All-in-one table- refrigerator, grill, microwave, floor vacuum, drink holder, and wifi.

non-functional product

Grill on the wall - non-functional product. No top to the grill, can start a fire/burn the house down. Walk into it and burn yourself. Meat would fall right off leaving yourself with a disgusting smell and a mess to clean. Not safe for children or dogs.

How to ruin a great design response

In the article How to Ruin a Great Design they explain how many bad designs come in different forms. Some of these designs can be distracting, unsafe, or simply unnecessary. One of the example was a sign in London saying "Diverted cyclists". The first letter starting with D happens to be much larger than the rest of the font which kind of distracts yourself while looking at the sign. The first thing my eyes go to is the D and only the D. That's definitely bad graphic design on their part, no letter especially a traffic sign should be designed like that. I don't think anyone gets the right idea out of the sign because of that graphic error.

Another thing they talked about was taking an older design and trying to create an "updated" version of it like the UPS logo. Everybody seemed to enjoy their old present logo, but instead a designer changed it to a newer updated version. A lot of people don't like the idea of change therefore I think that's why a lot of people dislike the new logo. For me personally, I don't like change, but I don't think there's anything wrong with change once in awhile as long as your getting good feedback.
